Meeting of the “ញ” Working Group on “Energy and Mineral Resources” of the Royal Government-Private Sector Forum at the Ministry of Mines and Energy

On Wednesday, November 01, 2023 at 08:30 am, the Cambodian Transport and Supply Chain Traders Association attended the “ញ” “Energy and Mineral Resources” Working Group Meeting of the Royal Government-Private Sector Forum in Cambodia. Ministry of Mines and Energy through direct participation Co-chaired by the two working groups: HE Keo Rattanak, Minister of Mines and Energy and Co-Chair of the “ញ” Working Group, Government Representative and Duke Un Yuthy, Vice President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chair of the “ញ” Working Group Private.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of relevant officials of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Deputy Co-Chair of the “N” working group in both government and private sector, representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, representatives of the Cambodian Construction Stone Association, representatives of the Cement Industry Association. Cambodia, and many other members of the “ញ” working group.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and address the 18 issues related to the energy and mineral resources sector in Cambodia proposed by the private sector, such as: Cost of purchasing electrical equipment (transformers) to connect the power grid to the new business location, 2. Frequent inspections at mining sites by officials of relevant ministries, 3. Connection of mains and transformers into development projects, 4. Deposits and Current Connections, 5. Transformers and transformer installation equipment, 6. Permission to connect new current, 7. Delayed power outage for payment, 8. Problems of electricity prices for industrial use, 9. All standard documents to be issued by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, 10. Determining collective agreement on royalties and taxation,11. Mechanisms for license renewal and pricing, etc., and these issues will be fully discussed at the meeting, and these results will be to make a joint report between the private sector and the government will be reported in the first government-private sector forum. 19 in November soon. The result of the decision to find a common ground on issues that have been agreed upon by the private sector and accepted the arguments of this “ញ” working group meeting.

It is noteworthy that the meeting has a lot of consensus on the solution of the Ministry to respond, and the remaining minor issues will work harder until a solution is acceptable to all parties.
